FOCUS ON THE NOW
 
I often encounter many wonderful and interesting people in my personal and professional life. As I research
people throughout our globe, it is very apparent that many people in life base their thoughts and memories
on the events in their past. I find that people spend their time thinking of an experience that happened to
them at home or work, or a negative encounter with a person (family, colleague, peer, etc.) that transpired
weeks or even
months before. Many of these people live week to week based on past events. They allow
negative experiences to affect their present day decisions. For instance, if I am upset over an incident that
happened last week, then every decision I make in the present will be negatively skewed because that is
where my thoughts and feelings (last week's incident) are. Instead, we need to concentrate our thoughts
and feelings and base them on our current reality. We cannot allow past events and incidences to literally
drain the energy out of our bodies, we need to start thinking of what we want our future to look like.
 
Many people who are stuck in a rut struggle to break out of it. Why is this? The reason is that they are
continuously focusing on the negative event and not on the positive of what could be. These people are planting
their energy into the problem instead
of harnessing their energy towards finding a solution. How many times
have you heard yourself or another person say, "Oh, they will bounce out of it once they hit rock bottom." My
question is why do they have to wait to hit rock bottom? It is not a matter of wanting to "bounce out"  of a
situation, but rather it is more a case of demanding from ourselves that we must move towards our desires. Before
we can achieve what we want in life, we must be able to see (visualize) it first. We all have an imagination.  The
problem is that so many of us forget how to use it once we exit formal education. School does not stop once you
obtain a job. Learning takes place every single day of our lives. Once you accept that you are a product of your
thoughts, you will begin to reap the benefits of your positive thinking. There is a simple strategy that any person
in this world can do in order to achieve, that is, to envision their greatest desires. You will be amazed at what you
will accomplish. What is the one thing in your life time that you want to grow?
 
 
 
Assess Yourself
 
Once you have determined your focus area(s), the second step is for you to grade yourself on a scale of 1-10 for each
focus area(s) (It is alright to only have one focus area). How close are you to achieving a 10 on the scale? Are you
getting excellent results or are you under performing?
 

 
Choose to Become Excellent
 
The fact is that many people have procrastination issues and therefore struggle to take action.  Refuse to rationalize,
justify or defend the reasons why you are not taking action. Instead, identify them clearly. Set a goal and make a plan
to become very good in your area of focus. Remember, once you focus on an area that you are passionate about, it
will be very difficult to fail!
 
Here is one of the greatest questions you will ever ask and answer: "What one area of focus, if I developed and did
it in an excellent fashion, would have the greatest positive impact on my life, career, family, etc.?"
 
Print out this statement and read it daily! Use this question to guide your life! Look into yourself for the answer.
You usually know what it is.
 
 
Action Exercise             
 
Identify the key area of focus. What is it? Write down what the end result looks like. If you concentrated your time on
this focus area and pursued it with excellence, what would it look like? On a level of 1-10 where would
you be now? 
Give yourself a grade from 1-10. Next, determine the area of focus that, if you did it in an excellent
manner, would help
you the most in your life.

 
Conduct this exercise every week until you achieve your focus area. 
 
 
Life is a Choice
 
I believe that the most rewarding aspect of our human existence is our freedom. We have the freedom to choose who
we want to spend our time with, where we want to live, what occupation we want to pursue, what we want to eat, how
to spend our leisure time and so on. Every person who has ever existed has the control over the choices he or she makes
within a particular day, month, year or life. 
 
Every time you decide to complain or listen to someone else complaining about a situation in his or her life, remember,
you have the choice to change your experience. If you are experiencing feelings of negativity or unhappiness, only you can
change your state. You cannot rely on external factors to make you happy. The change must happen from within. 
 
 
The attitude in which we choose to live our life will largely determine our experiences. If we choose to live without prosperity
and happiness, that is what will manifest. If we demand and expect great things in our life and consciously focus on those
things, then we shall receive them.
